Our Purpose

The Bahamas National Statistical Institute (BNSI) is the official national statistics agency responsible for collecting, analyzing, and disseminating trusted, high-quality data for the Commonwealth of The Bahamas.

Established under the Statistics Act of 2021, BNSI succeeded the former Department of Statistics and continues a legacy of statistical excellence that began in 1968. Our datasets help guide national planning, economic development, social programs, and private sector growth.

Our Mission

To ensure that the Bahamian Government, businesses, and people are never hampered in their activities by inadequacies of statistics, their recent trends, or their interpretation; and in particular, to ensure that the managers of the Bahamian economy in the Ministry of Finance, the Central Bank and elsewhere, never lack adequate statistics nor argue about them.

Our Vision

To be the leading resource centre and provider of high quality statistics, easily accessible to our clients, and responsive to their needs.

BNSI Core Functions
